What is
STEM Starts?

STEM Starts is all about fun and discovery! We help kids explore science, technology, engineering, and math through play. With a network of inspirational STEM centres, an engaging learning programme, and lots of fun outreach resources, our goal is to inspire future inventors and problem-solvers.

STEM Starts early—so we work with schools, families, and communities to bring awesome hands-on experiences to children as they begin their learning journey.

Our Vision at STEM Starts

To spark curiosity and interest in science, technology, engineering, and maths (STEM) from an early age, helping children build skills for future careers and strengthening Moray’s future workforce.

Our Aims

  • Give young children (ages 3–8) fun and engaging STEM experiences.
  • Support teachers with training and confidence in STEM teaching.
  • Involve parents and families so learning happens together.
  • Work with partners and the community to create new ways of learning.
  • Build a strong STEM network and learning environment in Moray.
  • Make STEM accessible to all.

STEM Starts Early

Children who love STEM from a young age are more likely to be more successful in STEM subjects as they grow up. This can lead to a broad range of career opportunities for them to choose from when they start working, and can give young people the skills and confidence to go on and address real-world challenges.
