STEM Starts

STEM Starts will spark curiosity, foster creativity, and build confidence in STEM through play. This will encourage young people into STEM careers within Moray and beyond.

Curiosity: Nurture natural curiosity in our children by encouraging them to ask questions, experiment, and seek answers to how things work

Creativity: Inspire our children’s imagination to create new and exciting ideas

Confidence: Boost our children’s confidence with problem solving and learning through play.

Our Vision at STEM Starts

To spark curiosity and interest in science, technology, engineering, and maths (STEM) from an early age, helping children build skills for future careers and strengthening Moray’s future workforce.

Our Aims

  • Give young children (ages 3–8) fun and engaging STEM experiences.
  • Support teachers with training and confidence in STEM teaching.
  • Involve parents and families so learning happens together.
  • Work with partners and the community to create new ways of learning.
  • Build a strong STEM network and learning environment in Moray.
  • Make STEM accessible to all.

Creating STEM Talent For The Future

Children who love STEM from a young age are more likely to be more successful in STEM subjects as they grow up. This can lead to a broad range of career opportunities for them to choose from when they start working, and can give young people the skills and confidence to go on and address real-world challenges.
