STEM Starts
Discovery Centre, Elgin

Situated beside Elgin Library, the STEM Starts Discovery Centre hosts specialist exhibits, interactive displays and creative play zones primarily for children in their early and primary school years.

The centre, which has been created in collaboration with Glasgow Science Centre and Unusual Projects, will help to engage young children from an early age in science concepts and learning, in a way that is accessible, inclusive and fun.

Discovery Zone

Step into the Discovery Zone—where adventure begins! Explore hands-on exhibits themed around life and work in Moray. Dive into nature, crack the secrets of manufacturing, spark your curiosity in the energy zone, or chill out in the Sensory Den.

Curiosity Lab

A visit to the STEM Starts Centre includes an interactive workshop delivered in our classroom space known as The Curiosity Lab.

Developed by our strategic partner, Glasgow Science Centre, choose from one of four bespoke workshops themed around life and work in Moray.

Defending Our Coast

In this workshop children will explore how coastal areas are affected by the tides. Pupils will build structures to defend a model of the shore from being affected by the tide.
